thanks Neil - and you are actually right - i took some time off from work for christmas vacation and sat down to create one character but got in a 'groove' and ended up creating more than planned. Before i knew it my vacation time is all used up : (

The archeress was actually intended as an update to a G1 archer character i did ages ago

That is an amazing pack of textures and the Faces are perfect for that era.

I know the time and work that must have gone into creating them and it has all the Characters required to make a great movie. It's ideal for someone who doesn't have the time or the ability yet to create their own Characters.

Like the Roman character. As for the software I use 3D Max but of course sketch up is easier.

I used actor Ciaran Hind's face (obtained from HBO's "Rome" website and adapted in iClone) and used a picture of lorica segmentata that I found on a reenactment supply website. I created the tunic with brown wool texture that I found at http://www.fabrics.net/outlet/Detail.asp?ProductID=1876. I hope to add various accessories like the gladius, etc. when I learn how to use Google Sketch Up or 3D Studio Max. Which product do you think is best for prop design? I would also like to design some Roman-style hairdos for Atia, Servilia, etc. Have you created any custom hair styles?

Do you have any suggestions for editing the .bvh motion capture files? I imported some of the files from bvh.com and found that the feet seem to be flopped over. I converted using the Animazoo and Animazoo2 profiles but both outputs had the same foot problem.

Hi,

Welcome to the forum and to the world of iClone.

There are a couple of things to take into account here. When you are viewing the character in the Realtime Window within iClone, the quality of the textures is dependant on the setting in Preferences (Hammer icon top right of the screen).

If you have a computer with good graphics capability try setting this to at least 1024x1024 or 2048x2048. Make sure also that you have Pixel Shader and Anti-Aliased selected. This should greatly improve how the textures look in the Realtime window.

Secondly, you should try exporting a rendered image of your CloneCloth character to get the "true" gauge of the texture quality. This is how things will look in the final product, be it an image or video.

With regards to the texture sizes, if you stick to the sizes of the CloneCloth templates then you should get very good results. Higher resolution textures may look better, but can be too taxing for some computers. For example the size of the CloneCloth upper garment templates is 2048x512 and the full templates are 2048x1024. These sizes give great results so I wouldn't go lower than these if possible.

I am new to both iClone 2.0 Studio and Clone Cloth. I was wondering if there is a suggested size (resolution) for an upper body (short) clone cloth fashion as opposed to an upper body full length fashion such as the Jane Casual Dress?

I created Roman lorica segmentata upper body armor using the Jack Casual G2 Clone Cloth and a 417X388 pixel image I found on the web and it seemed to have little distortion. But over the weekend I created a Sioux Indian female outfit using a digital photograph of a 12" figure dressed in the outfit and the G2 Jane Dress Clone Cloth Template. My digital camera is a 7.7 Megapixel so the file size is quite large. I downsized the image to 640 pixels wide but, even though my original clone cloth .jpg is detailed, the resulting fashion appears a bit blurry when applied to the avatar. The Clone Cloth tutorial said the best way to create realistic clothing is to use a photograph of real clothes so I am trying to do just that. Do any of you have suggestions to improve fine detail on clothing created with digital photographs?

If you have not got Clone clothe you are missing out. I am no texture guru like Shygirl over in www.coolclones.com but I can knock these characters out without much difficulty. My advice is to get to the store and invest in Clone clothe to customise your characters.

This is another how do I????

How do I get the "clear and colourless" bit on this? I can see that it can be done on these pics, as there are patches of skin showing and short sleeved shirts etc.

My character currently looks like he's wearing a neck brace as the wire mesh is importing around his collar.

Finally got round to toying with it.
Just doodling but it's dead easy to use. Beautiful Model, Nice storm lighting, Telephoto lens, Few rolls of film... Nice restaurant, Candles, Soft music....

I fed the original clothing through a Watercolour filter, and a Sketch/Pastel filter and banged up the colours. You cant really go wrong with it. Seems always to come out with something fun.

Thanks for your comments. The whole human template was part of the beta version of iClone 2.0 but still worked in the same way as the release version of v2.0 in that the Upper, Lower and Shoes still had to be loaded separately. The end result is still the same.

Have you tried creating anything using the Clone Cloth garment that is available for the Jane and Jack G2 characters in v2.0? If so, how did you find it?

the picture you have in the previous post of the whole human template, doesnt seem to be in iclone 2, i can get the templates of the upper and lower cloths (only of the clothing not of the body as your picture shows)i even purchased the set of 9 humans in the hope i could clothe them, but i was sorely dissapointed, i can put clothes on them from the g2 clothes that come with iclone 2 and them edit these but i cant edit the human skin as i could with iclone 1.
