Hi there, I have an Intel MacBook and parallels 3 to run Vista. iClone won't start. It keeps telling me to change my screen resolution to more than 800x600 and 32 bits. I have of course checked these, but still the same message.

Would it be any better on Bootcamp? Is there a solution for Parallels?

If the best that emulation software can do is 64mb ram, then that's the end of that mouse trap.

So, essentially I (and millions of other Non Intel using Macs) are locked out of Castle iClone.

As for lobbying Reallusion.They've stated on this forum they have no intention of supporting Mac natively. I've sent emails to all departments including customer service, none of which have been answered.

I'm not about to shell out for new gear I don't need or be forced into an unecessary upgrade cycle. Rewarding bad behaviour never works. (See 'Appeasing Hitler WW11'.)

Now all I can do is await the next developer to come along and make a similar product for Mac.

Perhaps I'll whittle one with a bread knife from a piece of driftwood. It may be faster... certainly easier on my sanity.

Hi,

As I said, the best solution for running iClone now is to have a real PC than virtual ones. Maybe I should make it more clearly.

I've tried to install iClone and all other softwares from Reallusion on my PowerBook G4 1GHz with 1.5GB ram. I was using Virtual PC to do that test... all prodcuts can be installed and work but iClone, that's because iClone need DirectX 9.0c and a powerful 3D graphics card to do hardware acceleration. But in Virtual PC, it can only simulate a S3 chip with 16(or 64?) MB vram, that's very far from the system requirement of iClone.

So the simple answer is NO.

I know what you worry about Intel Macs - including S/W compatibility or optimization, your previous investments on PM dual G5...etc. but reality is, if you would like to run iClone on a Mac, it has to be Intel Mac running BootCamp or Paralles.
Or make a petition for Mac version

BTW, since you're using PM G5, you may considering to upgrade your Virutal PC to 7.0, it's optimized for G5 processor.

So are you saying iClone will work on my G5 1.8 dual PPC in VPC7?

As for your suggested options.
1.) switch to an Intel Mac insertsmilie('')

That would mean dumping or loosing a considerable investment in my current and perfectly good machine and asociated hardware simply because Apple and their developers have decided to try and force people into early adoption of 'the latest and greatest' regardless of their need or desire to do so.

It would mean dumping/upgrading all my current perfectly reliable audio and multi media software.

Financially it would mean having to outlay around $8 000 or more.

Timewise it would require months of painful re-learning, re-nstalling and assiimilating all that hardware and sofftware.

It would create problems with other software that isn't yet compatible with the Intel Mac

... and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Next option...

'Get a real, high-end PC to run iClone'

I'm a Mac user...insertsmilie('')

Indeed, both Parallels & Bootcamp are only work with Intel Macs.
For PPC machines(G3, G4 & G5), the only (ironically, maybe the most reliable) solution would be VirtualPC 7 from Microsoft. However, 3D accelerate is the key point if you want to run iClone over VPC.
In my previous tests on
1) PBG4 with VPC7 on 10.4.8, iClone can't even been installed.
2) MBP 2.0GHz with BootCamp, it just working very well as a real PC.

So my suggestion is: switch to Intel Mac or get a real, high-end PC to run iClone

Hi guys.

I was wondering if there are any Mac, users that could advise me.

I'd like to get in and start using iClone and other Windows based programs but I need to find some compatible Mac to PC cloneware... (the PC cloneware that allows Macs to interface with Windows based programs such as 'Bootcamp' and 'Parallels').

Owing to the tyrany of the evil upgrade devils, 'Bootcamp' and 'Parallels' are only compatible with 'Intel' Macs. I have a perfectly good G5 dual 1.8 Power PC which is now, apparrently 'obselete' (i.e. 2.5 yrs old).

I do have Virtual PC (Version 5) but can't get it working with my OS and Microsoft don't support it anymore. There are too many issues to go into that can of worms.

Is anyone successfully using any other Mac to PC cloneware that is compatible with Power PC Macs? I'm on OS X.3.4
