There's a lot of motions you'll need that aren't in BackStage and the better you get at making your own the better animator you will be.

Chris[/quote]
I'm finding that out. But sometimes it takes me a very long time to position the characters. I've also tried using the BVH Motion Converter, but still find that they still need a lot of tweeking. However, as with all of the replies, I'll keep working at it.
sjonesdc :hehe:
STILL LEARNING!!!

RE: First Finished video

Hi, Sjonesdc

I had a commodore 64 too, most people now probably never even heard of it, I remember programming for two days strait just to make a smileyface bounce up and down on the screen:)We've came a long way since then;) Using premade motions might be quicker and may look better, but I hope you will stick with making your own. I always try to keep up with the latest and greatest , and then i ask myself how can i apply what i learned to iclone. the more you can learn about all of these areas of computer graphics, the stronger of an artist you will become. I have twenty years of CG experience and I never stop learning new stuff. Training is a fun journey, specially with Iclone.

Stuckon3d,

I've been interested in learning computer animation and filmmaking for many many years (does Commodore 64 ring a bell), and I know that it takes practice, a lot of pratice to perfect anything and still there is lots to learn. I am very glad that I discovered iClone and have spent many hours working with it. There is so much it can do and so much to learn what it can do and how to do it. I've seen what others have done, especially some of the newbies. I will definitely continue the journey. I did find and download "dancing" motions for both male and female in Backstage, but they don't mesh too well with what I have done already. It looks like I'll be working for a while. I know that I could do the scene with 2 camera shots, with one not showing the feet, but since the focus is not their faces (yet), I will work on the movement of their feet, this will get me learning.

Thanks again

sjonesdc ;)

RE: First Finished video

stonesdc,
Nice Start. To move the feet, Lock and Unlock Feet:

Open Timeline. From Tracklist select each character. Select Transformation tab on each character.

Select Animation / Edit Animation = A screen pops up with a Dummy and Hands.

Select One of the feet and Click on the Lock next to it. = Pins that foot to the ground. Click Set Key in the Timeline. = Records characters position and inserts a little Dot.

Select the other foot, Click the Transform Tab = (Move), move the foot, then lock it. From the Timeline, advance 10 to 15 frames ahead then Move, Rotate and or Scale a body part then SET KEY for each adjustment.

Example: Rotate his right shoulder backwards (Set Key). Move Her left hand forward (Set Key). Advance 10 to 15 frame ahead.... PIN BOTH FEET, select waist and move it forward... JUST A LITTE. Otherwise you'll perform some Funny Moves.:P

Unlock and Lock...REPEAT.

Important: Rotate your position Before you move something. Often they won't move.

Also: If the limbs start JERKING or Popping, toggle the (IK) ON and OFF.

Change Rotation Axis : Right Click to change (XYZ) Colored Circles.

Hope This Helps,

sw00000p

RE: First Finished video

great start - the motions where they start reaching out and dancing is great - the dance part needs a bit of work with regards to the movement of the legs -going side to side and stepping forwards and backwards - i know that is not an easy thing to animate but you are halfway there anyway

RE: First Finished video

Tutor, I took your advice and now the video is up on YouTube.
Again, any and all suggestions for improvement are most welcomed. After hours of fiddling, reading and following tutroials, I've started on a short project called "The Dance" (attached as a zip file). I would like feedback from the "experienced ones", especially on how to move their feet, without hours of work (if possible). The video is in mp4 less than 1 minute, I used iClone3PRO.
Thanks

sjonesdc

PS: I too am waiting for servers problem with the installation of Reallusion products to be fixed
