I found this a quick and easy way to get my FX to go exactly as desired.Perhaps you could do something similar by attaching the SpellBall to the cheeks and emiting a rosy glow from it to get that spreading redness that comes with a blush? I've not tried it in this way myself, but have done something similar for a character who was smoking. I attached the SpellBall to her mouth and then used it to emit the Small Smoke effect, and it doesn't matter if she walks about and waggles her head around, the smoke comes from her mouth and - even if I say it myself - looks very realistic with the way it wafts as it follows her head. I actually impressed myself!Anyway - you'll have to let me know if a similar use could create a blush.Hope this helps.Richard.

RE: How to make a character's face becoming red

Thank you very much for this fantastic idea!

RE: How to make a character's face becoming red
jpiazzo (8/6/2008)
Make a copy of your project in case you make a mistake.Save your character as a custom character in the library. The open the face editor, and paint you face red with the tools available.Close.Re-save the character to the library with a different name. Now you have a normal face version and a red face version.Render the scene up to, and a few seconds longer than the change to red.Change your character to the red face one.Re-render the scene to the end with overlap A few seconds on the first render.Load both clips into a video editing program.Dissolve between the two clips.JP
that's exactly how I would do it. :)

RE: How to make a character's face becoming red

Make a copy of your project in case you make a mistake.Save your character as a custom character in the library. The open the face editor, and paint you face red with the tools available.Close.Re-save the character to the library with a different name. Now you have a normal face version and a red face version.Render the scene up to, and a few seconds longer than the change to red.Change your character to the red face one.Re-render the scene to the end with overlap A few seconds on the first render.Load both clips into a video editing program.Dissolve between the two clips.JP

RE: How to make a character's face becoming red

Thank you, Cricky.I will see if my video editor can add the wished effect. In the meantime I use a jpg-file of the character I exported and edited in Photoshop. It will work properly in this case because I show only a short close-up of the character's head.

RE: How to make a character's face becoming red

The SFX in CT5 are actually a different set of PAKs specific for use in CrazyTalk. They do not transfer out as effects to be used in other programs.

Try linking a prop such as a box or ball to the characters head and then make it invisible after attaching the particle to it. The particle doesn't disappear, but the prop/accessory is still going to show the particle on the character and will follow the character as long as it's linked to the prop and the prop is linked to the character.. It may take two props, One attached to each cheek.

The above will work, but may take some time adjusting the various settings for the particle. You could always use a special effects editor after the fact using some Video editors or Particle Illusion.
RE: How to make a character's face becoming red

That was my first idea and I tried it yesterday. But somehow I couldn't position the particle exactly in the face of my character (the face is always in the same position - not moving), and the second problem was that the particle was moving around. I tried many different settings but couldn't make it stay at one point, only blinking red. Maybe it is easier to use a prop to place the particle ... and maybe I watch some more of the tutorials. Is it possible to create this special effect in CT 5.0 and take it over to iClone 3.0 by importing the script?

RE: How to make a character's face becoming red

You could always try adding a particle to the character and generate it when called for in the scene.

How to make a character's face becoming red

Hi,Is there a chance (i. e. via SFX) to make the head of my character blush when he is embarressed? I saw that this is possible in Crazy Talk and I am wondering if there is a way to do this in iClone.
