I'll give it a try - and maybe post again here if I get stuck.

RE: How to get different motions and moods in one scene?

"But how can I make it slide before standing up (the character is under a speeder, doing repairs, and has to slide a little bit, before standing up without hitting its head against the speeder. How can I make my character change his position from one point to another in the motion editor?"one way you could do this is by attaching ("link to"/parenting) the character to a Null object/helper. and animated the helper to move in the sliding direction in which you want your character to come out from, and them just let the animation of the character that you already have take its course. Just make sure that you leave some frames at the begining of the characters motion to sync with the helpers motion. I hope I was clear. If not let me know, ill try to explain it further. Good luck.Stuckon3d.PS: there are some tutorials on "helpers" if you dont know what these are in the video section for Iclone.

RE: How to get different motions and moods in one scene?
Joda said: "Ahhh young Skywalker, if you want to link multiple motions then the "Motion editor", use you must. "
Skywalker: "It's too big - you want the impossible ...";)
Just kidding, cool name btw.
Thank you - its the name character in a Star Wars story I wrote - and animating this story is my current (and first) iclone project.:)
You have to use the motion editor if you wan to link multiple motions on a single character.
I used the motion editor to combine and alter some motions to make my character stand up from a supine position. So far so good. But how can I make it slide before standing up (the character is under a speeder, doing repairs, and has to slide a little bit, before standing up without hitting its head against the speeder. How can I make my character change his position from one point to another in the motion editor?I cut this short scene in two pieces to solve the problem, but this procedure is not very satisfying. It would be nicer to have it in one flow. After the timeline tutorial I thought I could change the motions (and moods) a character makes/shows at every key I set but it seems I can only change the position of a prop. Do I make a mistake? Or is this correct? If the latest is fact, I should add a suggestion that it would be nice to be able to change motions, moods etc. at/with inserting a new key. Even this is too late for iclone 3, it maybe is a good new feature in iclone 4.;)
Or you cant stop stressing out and be a litttle patient and wait for IC3 because it has a much cleaner way for creating motions. At least thats what I've heard. ;)
I am afraid, patience is not a thing Skywalker family members are famous for ...;)Btw: Is a release date for iclone 3 fixed yet?

RE: How to get different motions and moods in one scene?
eliza.skywalker (7/14/2008)
It drives me mad - I try to do a short scene with one character doing different motions - at first he lies under a car, than stands up, looks at another character in the scene and smiles at him.I made the motion for standing up in the motion editor and it works fine. Than I tried to work with key frames on the iclone time line. I gave the first key the coordinates of the character under the car, assigned the stand-up motion to the second key, added a pose and a mood to the third key. But it doesn't work the way I want. If I add a mood to my character he shows this mood from the start of the scene, which is not what I want. The same is with motions.I thought I could assign a different motion to every key I set. Am I wrong? How can I do longer scenes with different motions?
Joda said: "Ahhh young Skywalker, if you want to link multiple motions then the "Motion editor", use you must.
