I must admit that although I have not actually tried any other software I do like the concept of clicking on a character and having it move to another part of the 'set' just by another click is somewhat appealing. (Antic I believe from memory).

Maybe in iClone 4 - (said I should not refer to 3).

Personally I like the fact that you can create almost anything, out of not much in iClone, once you have gained some skills. Like anything else - it takes time.

RE: iClone or ????

I only watch these forums for any new information on iClone 3 (which was supposed to be released originally March '08), and to keep up on the proposed new features. Right now, using iCLone to make any kind of moive is an excercise in frustration. The one and only real advantage is the character customization possibilities. But using those characters needs to become easier. Just getting a character to walk from point A to point B, without the skating and sliding, is a ton of work. And if you ever need to change the destination of that character, it's a ton more work.

The advantages of Antics 3D and Moviestorm (I have both) is the ease of directing the characters. Getting them to interact with props and and the "sets" in general is loads easier and far more enjoyable. While I do wish they have something like the Motion Builder, the lack thereof isn't enough to detract me from those package. Especially now that the newer Antics works directly with Google Warehouse, and the free edition of Sketchup, and importing of BVH files for custom actions, it's almost enough to make the movies I want to make. ALmost. But it's still ahead of iClone IMO, regarding the actual making of a movie.

RE: iClone or ????

ill have to say that in moviestorm you cant make your own motions, you cant edit your own face or any face to fit your actors. this is importent to me for the fact that my movies actors has to mach my game actors.yes moviestorm is great tool overall but really confusing to use. iclone is easy to make any kind of movie.

RE: iClone or ????

i joined the iclone world because of one idea ...motion editor, it has it's flaws but it is the main reason, i didn't see anything along those lines from the other 2 ...i looked ( i'm not saying anyone is better then the other ) i just wanted freedom to make movements that where not part of a library.

Steve

iClone or ????

Hi. I am a dedicated iClone user - just cannot get away from my PC.

However, following a few comments I have read on this forum and the recent post by mystic (Game Maker) and which members are enjoying, I thought I should play devils advocate and ask the questions:

Why is iClone a better package than say Antis V3 or Moviestorm, which do offer many freebies at the moment? Just what are the pro's and cons?

Newbies like myself - please join in.

I think we should ignore iClone 3 at the moment - which by all accounts will make its own statements.
