Free introduction class to Iclone 4

On November, saturday 21 th 2009 at 10:30 AM pacific standard time, I'll be offering a free introductory class to Iclone 4. This is the first of many classes I will be teaching depending on the demand for it. While the future classes are not going to be free, they will be priced so that everyone can afford them. $35 per person. Lessons will be one to two hour classes plus 30 minutes for Q&A session. The classes will also be project based so by the end of the class you will see a mini project from start to end. :)

[b]Topic I will be covering in my classes are:[/b]

1) Intro to Iclone4 (Learn the XYZ's to navigate iclone like a pro) (FREE ALWAYS!)
2) Intro to modeling in IC4 using primitives (it includes simple texturing techniques as well)
3) Advanced modeling for creating custom props (using sketchup and 3d exchange)
4) Intro to texturing in IC4 (learn what the different types of textures are for, what UVs are and how you can use them to your advantage)
5) Advance texturing in IC4 (learn how to combine all the texturing types and shaders to create realistic materials for your scenes)
6) Intro to lighting and shadows (Learn how to light to tell your story)
7) Advanced Lighting (Learn how to combine IBL with HDRI and tone mapping to get the best lighting scenarios possible out of iclone)
8) Intro to animation in IC4 (Learn keyframing and path animation to create fantastic flying logos and more!)
9) Advanced Animation ( learn to control your character using motion files and poses using the motion layer editor)
10) Effects in IC4 ( learn how to use particles, flex meshes, dynamic props, etc)

Detail breakdowns for each class will be available when the classes are offered. Also remember that while you dont have to take them all I would strongly recommend it,specially if you are a beginner, but of course you can also take only the ones you are interested in. I know when i say that people shoud take all the classes im offering, it may sound a little self serving but, if you take the classes you will see how interdependent knowing the GUI is to modeling, modeling is to texturing, and texturing is to lighting, and lighting is to animation. That i feel that anyone that jumps in into a single class, like lighting for example, they might feel lost because the missed so much from the previous classes. All my classes build upon each other, so that by the end of all the courses, you will have a very, very strong solid foundation to make your visions come to life. ;)

[b]Teaching method: [/b]
While anyone can become a master of all RL softwares/tools with enough practice, not everyone is classified as an artist because they mastered them. And that is what Iclone is, a tool, a tool to help you express your visions.
In my classes, im not just going to tell how to use the tools, but how you can apply it in an artist way to help you unleash your visions. I will also teach some basic principles, for example:

1) In modeling, i will teach you to push a model to its limit without making it heavy. I will show you what can be done texturally without having to model it.
2) In texturing, I will show you how different material behave in real life and show you how to recreate them in the Iclone world.
3) In lighting, I will teach the basic principles and them show you how to translate that with Iclone lights, IBL,HDRI, and tone mapping.

Well I think you get the point by now. I'm going to teach iclone from an artist point of view, because anyone can teach you that 2+2=4, but an artist can also show you how if you turn a four upsidedown you can use it as a chair in iclone. :P

I'm a 3d artist with 20 years experience.
I have worked on two major TV series ("Star Trek : Voyager" and "Deep Space nine"). Also worked for Disney, Nickelodeon, and Electronic Arts as a senior artist and an Art Director. I've also done movie trailers and music videos, as well as worked on six animated feature films. So if you ask yourself, does this guy have any experience? [b]How does it work?[/b]
you sign up and I will send you a link for a GOTOMEETING place on saturday. You follow the simple instructions and you will see my screen on your computer and watch me work first hand. Simple and effective. All you need is a good connection.

[b]Who should attend?[/b]
Anyone who would like to learn Iclone's workflow for creating a shot.
Anyone that wants to learn to move around the GUI so that it does not get in the way of your creativity.
Anyone that would like to pick up some cool tips and tricks.

[b]For the people out there that dont know if this class would benefit them or not, I will say this:[/b]

1) do not let the word [b]introduction[/b] to iclone fool you. While the class is targeted at the beginner there are tips and trick even the pros can use.

2) [b]Free[/b] does not mean barely useful information. In this class there is so much useful information about all the areas of iclone, that I really recommended that you write everything down. Yes, there is that much.

With recommendations like this, how can you go wrong? So dont be shy, even if you are an intermediate user, i can assure you will get something out of the class. I'm doing this for anyone that wants to get moving in iclone, even if you dont take any of the other classes, I really dont mind you joining, there is zero obligation or expectation of further commitment. I'm also doing this for the people that do want to further their skills by taking my other classes, because once they see me zipping around the GUI the might wander how im doing that. And that is another reason why im giving this class as well. ;)

Free Stage rigging

Again we release something useful for anybody, some materials made from any picture with our Material Generator that generates BUMP maps as well as GLOW maps for the picture and the DIFFUSE map is generated from any picture, stepped in X and Y if you want. Here you can download the test materials we released as a test sample.

Here are a batch of FreeBies from White Tiger, it is a very, very early attempt to create a modular medieval feel of a shack with some stuff in it! Now I hope some one of you might be able to use some of it perhaps. 14.5 MByte is the download. You can see the picture underneath to see if you want this.

2 versions of the shack, 2 fireplaces one with and without particle fire. Some floor for the shack, lot's of bottles and a glass, counter, bench, chair and table. Plate with food as well as plate and food on it's own. A couple of barrels as well as the skeleton of a shack under construction..

Hope someone might have some use of this

here are some fairy wings that I just finished creating...I put these on billboards and attatched them to a 3d object(ball), to get them to move in the gif...I'm sure there's a better way to make them move, flutter, etc.,, but I just don't know how yet..if anyone knows of any tutorials on that subject (or wants to make a tutorial), plse lmk...

Apophysis 3D

Apophysis is a piece of software that renders amazing Fractal images. Not tricky to learn at all, and basically comes with a thousands preset math mixes.

I have used this extensively especially for wonderful textures. It also renders the output as a layer, only allowing the workload to sit on the useable layer else you can chose your own Backdrop.

It works with FLAME files. Many will be familiar with these but from my understanding the maths of a flame files coupled with a root algorythm!!! works together to create a kind of controllable Fractal output that defies description.

If you think this is one of those Paisley forever zooming in fractal things, well, think again. You CAN infinitely zoom in on the fractal output part but not to produce the old fashioned image we all recall.

Have a go. If youre really pushed Ill do a very quick Vid Tute on it because it IS easy and is IS exceptional. Here's some I created last year but it only touches the tip of the iceberg.

Here are some of my works from last year. (Amazing what you find when youre weeding backup drives.)

And so it goes on. I hope they inspire but the software is a definite if you're looking for something diverse and that no one else will have. :) Armstrong.

Monstertree

Hi everyone

Lonewolf made the design and texture for the talking monstertree. I animated the tree in autodesk and put sound to it. I made also a project and a video for this monstertree. You can see this video on youtube. I promote my creations on youtube under my alias name Skywalkerwil. The tree can talk jump and has several motions. Normally i design all my creatures myself. This time Lonewolf made the design and texture. I thank him for the permission to give this tree away as a freebie to Iclone users.

As i told i made the animation. The people who saw the tree were delighted so I hope you will like it. It is so easy to make things in autodesk for Iclone. In real life I am a manager at a powercompany, it means i am far from a professional but with Iclone and autodesk we can act as if we are. Wonderful!!

I started with autodesk about one and a half year ago, everyday I enjoy playing with Iclone in combination with autodesk.Everyday i learn that there still much to discover There are so many ways and ideas possible that the only limit is our imagination and time to do it. I thank Reallusion for this wonderful program Iclone. it changed my life the moment i got it.

I am now filling my time by learning how animals moves and act, so i can let the animals i create act as natural as possible. At the moment i am desinging Centaur G2 characters.

Also....has everyone downloaded the previous freebies available from Reallusion? There were some available terrains, that I don't remember downloading when I first got iClone, so I downloaded them and going to add them to my library. I'm still learning on alot of this, but here's a top for female avatars...that I made basically from scratch. I built the top and designed/patterned it in 3DCoat, then jpegged an image of my 3D top, then worked with it from there..the end result is quite different from the initial design, ..but hope you like it & can use it.:)

( I did notice a couple flaws that I will try n rework asap, but you're welcome to use them 'as is' for now, cause I'm not sure when I can get a chance to rework them)

Ghostly Particle Effects (free ghost images for particle effects)

created these effects in the vid by changing the diffuse and opacity images of particle effects to a ghost image that I painted. this is just a vid displaying some of the possible uses of the ghost particle effects. thought i'd post this in case some of you might want to experiment with it, ...I'll tweak the ghost later but here it is for now.

Hi. I know I should not say this but my iC4 is now running great and so to celebrate, and to put a little back into this Forum of such generous people, I have made two Image Layers, which you can download via the link below, that can easily give the impression of the scene being underwater, subject to lighting.
