For whatever reason, English is mandatory in the public schools for 6 years but less than 10% of the 18-22 age group can speak conversation English.
In Japan, there are entrance examinations to pass from one grade level/school to the next. In America, we have no concept of this form of education but it is common in parts of Europe and Asia. English grammar is stressed, not conversation.

I think animation, using crazy talk 6, would get the kids excited and make learning a fun, enthusiastic activity.

I think Crazy talk 6 is the perfect solution but there are a plethora of Reallusion products to consider.

Can any of you provide recommendations or suggestions about which products would best be suited for this type of activity. The groups of children will participate in the activity by creating sketches or drawings that will eventually become characters in the animation.

All ideas and suggestions are welcome.

RealIllusion Products for E-learning

The Reallusion products look great! I used photos of the teachers and used CrazyTalk to animate them. The other students and my Teacher found it very amusing and they were glued to the screen throughout the video. My teacher says that we will be watching it again for revision soon.

Then we watched another video which I had made on iClone. I used the Hundred Years War pack and I made a movie with Teachers fighting each other! Again, the other students really enjoyed the video (except a girl who dislikes blood).

If you are a Student or a Teacher, I really recommend making a video for your class because the Students really enjoy watching videos instead of writing all of time.

8 year old using Crazytalk

Just had a group of eight year olds in the Learning Centre today. These were a mixed ability group. In four hours and them seeing Crazytalk for the first time they produced these examples.
They did there own little poems to put on the script. Used SFX, Puppetering and modification of images/text. I was pretty impressed by the way the kids picked this up in such a a short time.

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=zY5HKD71lhM
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=BItfKHPI3Ls
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=bVqHcC5iuyI

St Cuthberts Primary, Newcastle

New Education Website Launched

A brand new Education Website has been launched by Reallusion this week. I downloaded the trail version Iclone 3. It may be more than I really need. I'm just looking to give these kids some visual representation of how to correctly do things. Simple things like use a fork for your food, wash your hands after bathroom. I think the teachers call this stuff video modeling, using videos of real kids showing the correct way of doing something. It helps some of the special kids learn. Well it's not easy finding real videos of sit on the potty.Am I looking at the right software with the clone 3?Am I going to have to break the wallet out every time I need a prop such as fork, plate, glass, bathroom sink?If I do purchase the clone 3 are more props included when you upgade to full user or am I limited to just what I've seen so far? Only spent a couple hours with it but the trail seems to be lacking props. How helpful is the forum with new users? Guess I'll find that out soon enough. LOL Thanks in advance for any help.Mark

Education Packs

Education packs available from here:
http://www.iclones2go.com/index.php?_a=viewCat&catId=11

Further Characters and content can be found here:

http://www.iclones2go.com/index.php?_a=viewCat&catId=45

Hope this meets the teacher's approval :P

iclone classroom

Has anyone produced an education set for iclone? While trying to learn this program, I was consistently connected to with what should have been very helpful tutorial videos. However, each tutorial I was brought to said "open Crazytalk5" and then .... My software did not have many of the buttons or features I was being led to. After many wasted hours and time spent online, I realize that I was being taken to tutorials for Crazytalk 5 Pro--althought not stated as such. I would like to be able to access help for my version: Crazytalk5 EDU only. Even the enclosed brochure that came with the program shows me a voice, lips face/facestrength etc. track screen. All I get are Voice and Motion clip tracks--and the motion clip track is barely visible at the bottom of the screen.

Help.

Should educational licenses have a cost?

Certainly, education is one means to promote software usage and is a guaranteed way to popularize it. As an educator aI have the strong belief that software creators have the wrong approach to educational distribution. What you learn is what you will use. It is as simple as that. that is why pirated software somehow contributes to make a software package popular and usually will lead to an increase in sales. Why then relying on pirated software effectiveness when properly identified educational centers could be provided, free of charge, with special educational packages ?I still have not gotten reasonable explanation from ANY software vendor!Mike AparicioMediaLab director.Galileo University, Guatemala C.A.

Iclone 2 vs 2.5 question

I just purchased an academic version of Iclone 2.0 last week Feb. 8 2008 from Academic Superstore. No answers, so maybe sb over here has some ideas. My company is looking for new applications for producing interactive language learning materials. CrazyTalk looks interesting (and iClone as well). The problem I see so far for Reallusion products is that unicode is not well supported. Maybe I'm missing sth, but with my regular applications I can copy and paste Chinese (or whatever) characters directly without worrying about missing fonts, strange symbols or anything else that gets in the way of production. So far, I have not been able to take a speech bubble and successfully enter Chinese into it with CrazyTalk. Without that function, it would be a waste of time for my company to invest time and money in CrazyTalk or other Reallusion products. The most frustrating part, however, is that so far I have been unable to get any feedback on this issue.

I would also expect that for the purposes of marketing globally, it would make sense for applications to be localized to other linguistic contexts. Anyway, these days, basic unicode support is fairly widespread. It looks like I will be researching products from competing companies that offer this function.

Reallusion in BETT

Reallusion will be presented at BETT (UK) in Jan 2008.
Know more info in
http://forum.reallusion.com/Topic2064-15-1.aspx

iClone for LFA Specialised Courses

iClone for LFA Specialised Courses

"...The student will then be introduced to few varied 3D approaches to generating pre-viz using commercial off the shelf products, Sketchup, iClone and Antics 3D, these are relatively new 3D applications that are now being specifically developed for the pre-visualization and machinima markets."

http://www.londonfilmacademy.com/courses/short_and_parttime_courses.asp?id=50

iClone in Machinima

Machinima 101

iClone and CrazyTalk are Machinima tools designed to give total control over creating 2D and 3D characters.
