Clone 4 Error Adding Operate Command

When I try to use an AML template such as Sit Here I get an Error Adding Operate command when in iClone 4 but works as expected in iClone 3 as expected.

Any one else see the benefit of a sub-forum for Wishful Contents?

In my own experience, when I looked for a certain content and couldn't find it, I either found a substitute or simply moved on. I did not write down what I was looking for.

Now think about it, this is useful info for RL and other content developers. Maybe I wasn't the only one who was looking for that thing. If there is a specific sub-forum for wishful contents, it may encourage us to write down the things that we are looking for and find out if there is a common need for it.

Before I forget, here is one of the contents that I was looking for: more male hair styles.

Was playing around in iClone4 with the new Dragon and this is the result.

Backstage Refit?

Spare a thought for Backstage. It must be feeling a bit jaded at present. It does seems a pity that it's general maintenance and profile appear neglected.

It`s over due for new content updates and has had a misleading graphic displayed on front page for some weeks now.

A while ago we were all invited by RL to take part in a survey concerning our use and experience of Backstage. A number of people also made comments on the forum particularly that finding items there was not an easy processes as the search facility was rudimentary at best.

Is there any news that the Backstage Store may be due for a major refit soon ?

I ask because I think Backstage is an excellent concept. I have found it very reliable in the downloading and installing of content. I do hope RL don't intend to simply let this facility quietly fade away.

about painting clothing textures

Hi everyone. I'm trying to figure out how to make some nice textures for the clonecloth in Paint.net. I found a tutorial on getting nice cloths, but I can't quite figure out how to make rinkles or folds in something... I was thinking I take a semitransparent black line and then put a shadow under it or something but I can't seem to get it right because shadows don't seem towkr how I thought.

Does anyone have any ideas? thanks.

What makes a cartoon character?

What physical features make a character a cartoon character?

When I used the pre-set Cartoon body style to modify an avartar, it looked ok but it could also be mistaken as a miniature. After I shrunk the body a bit more while enlarging the head it looked a little better. Is a big head on a small body all there to it?

Is repackaging of Real Human Heads -Male face pack possible?

Is it possible to repackage the G3 Real Human Heads- Male Face Pack? When the faces from this pack are used in iClone 4, their texture can't be edited. This limits the full use of this wonderful pack.

[b]Some background:[/b] I am in the process of creating a new movie which is tentatively titled - Voyages of the Sojourner - a steampunk themed movie set in 1880's with some of today's technology. With this thread, i wanted to start a diary on how i put together the movie. Note i'll assume you are familiar with the user interface. WARNING I expect this thread will be graphics intensive so be warned.

[b]How i approach movie making in iclone[/b]
Obviously everyone approaches movie making differently. I have always focused more on visuals first, story second (sacrilege!) but i typically would fart around and design a set or character and suddenly a story idea emerges. This is true with this Steampunk movie. I first designed some characters and the idea emerged. But hey whatever works for you

[b]IDEA # 1 : A Movie is a bunch of scenes connected by the plot[/b]
The sentence above pretty much sums up how i approach the movie. i break the story down into a bunch of scenes. One key point is the visual style, costumes etc.. must sort of be the same through out. One of the scenes for my movie involve a captain sitting in his cabin contemplating the journey - so we will use this diary to describe how i approach this

[b]IDEA # 2:[/b] Each scene might involved many different projects, or might require rendering many different footage, requiring an external video editor to assemble them all later

[b]First Steps -collecting the elements[/b]
1) i determine i need an ocean scene where i can show the ship bobbing in the water, this establishes that our character is a captain of a ship

2) I need an interior scene where the captain is in his cabin. I go over to images.google.com and search for images that help guide me. I go to 3D Warehouse to see if one is already created to my satisfaction. If i can't find anything my options are to create my own using 3D blocks or buy one already made. I also needed a ship for external shots so found one at 3D warehouse

I also needed some crew members and to save time creating my own, went to coolcreators and got Alley's Medieval [url=http://www.coolcreators.org/store/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=530]pack[/url] that can double as crew members

3) i need to decorate the cabin - to personalize it for the captain - so back to 3D warehouse i go and download some props which i convert using 3D exchange. I could not find a photo frame i liked so will make my own using 3D blocks

so now we have almost all we need but do need to make a few ourselves
Here's a list of various elements that I'll be making for this scene

1) make the ocean scene - sky, waves, water, ship and set up the camera
2) decorate the cabin, create photo prop
3) set up lighting for the cabin
4) set up the camera angles i will be using to film
6) edit the captain's motions
7) design the captain's costume

Hi guys. I used the G3 Jana Clonecloth to creat a shirt that turned out prety well. The only problem is that the upper skincolor is incorrect. Even if I check apply to all materials, it's still not right. What can I do to fix this? Thanks.

A lot of people who want to buy IC4 will no doubt also want Clonecloth 3 in order to take full advantage of the IC4 features.

I've seen that iclone 3 user can upgrade but could we upgrade with a standard version of Iclone 4 ?

These are just what I was looking for. Are these normal G3 characters? Can I use these like any other characters? I'm guessing I can. I want to also see how they were created. I also want to mod them to make little chibi characters out of them... Can they use the other G3 clonecloths?

It'd be so awesome if they could. Thanks for coming out with these. They will be most helpful.

Saving poses/motion?

I've spent quite a while getting a character to be sitting in just the right pose and I want to use that exact same character in that exact same pose in another project. Whilst it's easy enough to add the character to the library (right click -> add to library) I can't see any easy way to save off custom poses or motion in iClone 4.

Maybe I'm just not looking properly - I'm REALLY hoping this is possible, since it took absolutely ages to put the pose together and make it look natural.

Pagoda Parts

I am about to create a Chinese Building. Pagoda.
However, that end roof structure that typically defines Chinese Architecture isnt in the architecture standard with iClone and I cant find it anywhere.
Of course this can be manufactured in a number of ways. But my issue is that I will require several buildings on set within an incredibly intense Chinese Garden replica from 1800BC. I am cutting as many corners as I can. I run 2 nVidea Goliaths but it is still easy to overdrive everything.
So the most important corner cut initially ids this piece of roofing infrastructure. If I can cut it down to one piece, Im happy.
Currently the most part-efficient solution I can devise is five pieces. This many because it has to look VERY good on passes.
If anyone has one I would greatly appreciate it. Just the roof part. I have created the rest from ancient plans. Hope I'm lucky.

The red roof below I am creating pretty close as far as 90% successful here. The others display that upturned corner I find so elusive. I do not model parts. But I can almost make anything in the iCLone Architecture folders.

I "simply" need that curled roof beam!!! There are 4 to each of course.

Hello and currently I cannot help issue files due to relocation... The motion file to which you make reference should be a standard part of iClone... but I am no longer sure. In all honesty I cannot remember from where it came.

I believe at the time, back in v.1.5 iClone, there was alot of work and elements being either organised to come from or were actually created by and delivered through ANIMAZOO.

I recall John Martin II back in 2005 (?) came to England on an International iClone Promo Tour, the hub of which was London Based, and he was in conference with Animazoo...... so I was informed but further than that I have no idea.

As soon as things pick up again (re: recessional starvation) I will continue to work towards finding a competent pair of Ballet Enthusiasts and organise sponsorship of one of Animazoo's suits/techs to manage a full 10 minute variance on a Ballet theme duo. This has been on the books for a long time. All I really need to do is get finance for the Dancers.

But currently, with work so dry, this is hanging though something I discussed two years ago in this forum.
There are many other free dance downloads also. I will dig out some Animazoo samples issued to me by them a few years back. Just some samples. But they move well and are good templates if you dont mind sitting with the motion editor for some days on end fighting for seconds at a time of good motion alternate to the base anim. This way you pocket together slight variations that, when shot at differing angles, look pleasant enough for short takes.

Along with the finals of the 'Medieval CPExhib' I have already made most of the MoCap suit elements to have an iClone Character wearing one of Animazoo's suits actually dancing out sample MoCaps FROM Animazoo.
If for no other reason than to create that oddity of mental vision where an iClone Character, dancing using an Animazoo file, is actually Dancing as if it's MAKING the file its dancing with FOR Animazoo in a wierd reality-loop. :P If your head is in tune with mine on that.

This came about because in a demo of the TOADSTOOL VILLAGE scene I did a wireframe animation for transitions through each render quality level and it reminded me of Clone Cloth raw suits and this made me think of the Animazoo Girlie in her MoCap suit.
The final on this easy short is impressive because it hits technical and then keeps shooting in and out of final to techie preview and so on. Rocking back and forth on each quality.

Suggestions needed for moding iClone characters

I watched Dr.Who recently and was inspired to create a faceless character. Well, I am stumped. I've had a creative breakdown.........(I have iClone Pro 4.02)

The problem is I cannot find a way to alter the head mesh to flatten out features. I tried mapping with jpegs does not work for me.

Corrupted file with IClone 4 pro manual

I have tried several times to download this zip file. The file is listed at 19 MEG and when I download it I see the zip file is only 17.1 MEG. I was just directed to that problem by Tech Support. They also recommended purchaser a download manager so I purchased Getright. Still the same problem. I've turned off my Kaspersky and my Windows Firewall. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Looking for graphics card suggestions

Hi all,

My pc is almost 5 years old. I am planning to buy or build a new one. For graphics card, I am now leaning toward a ATI Radeon HD 5850 for its lower power consumption, less heat generation and its support of DX 11. HD 5850 (1GB GDDR5) is about the equivalent of Nvidia GTX 285 in terms of speed. So it is probably good enough for iClone for a couple of years. However, I would like to know if it is also good enough for 3ds Max. Please give me some input if you use 3ds max. Opinions on graphics cards in general will also be appreciated.

World Wilderness Volume 1 and 2 with iClone 4

After loading new version of iClone 4, and also getting the recent patch/update, I still have trouble loading some of the Wilderness scenes, the system hangs as it is trying to load, then I have to close the program. An example of one that does not work everytime is WOODS in VOL 1

Most of them do work. But this one "Woods" crashes the app everytime and needs to close.

Has anyone else experienced this? And shouldn't these be compatible with version 4?

I dont normally do this but it was a time consuming config excercise and perhaps a newcomer may enjoy this as we're closing in on Christmas and winter.
I took the Blizzard and cooled it right down to a romantic flutter. :P

If you dont want the lil snowflakes for snowfall and if you, instead, want one of those days where the snow falls but it sort of blows off suddenly on the wind as if it got bored of gravity and then whirls back round before hittong the earth borne blanket later, this is one of those snowfalls.

It kind of falls and doesnt. Some goes down, around and flutters all over.

Adding a Collaboration Topic Thread

Hey Everyone

I was looking at each Subject thread on the forum and didn't see a topic subject or may have overlooked it, but I put it in this general topic section.

I'm not sure how many of you step out of the iClone world and see what other people are doing, but I check out other machinima type programs and their forums to see what they are doing.
I noticed on one forum, that they have a collaboration thread with mostly people requesting voice actors to help them with their movie projects. It seems everyone likes helping each other out and lending their voices for various parts in their script.

I don't remember anyone on the forum really talking about using Voice Actors or doing their own voice parts for their current projects. But I also know that everyone here is always willing to lend a hand with questions someone has or comment on someone's new video project.

The only reason I thought about this, is someone commented on my video on the TMUnderground site that I could use some help on the character's dialogues, which I know is true.
As humorous as it sounds, there is only so much an audio software program's effects can do to alter someone's voice and I'll admit that my last video project came out with the voice's sounding like the kids from the fat albert cartoon.

As I said, I was just wondering what people's thoughts were on this, or just wondering how to go about doing something like this.

Unmerge a prop

I created a nightmare wherein I was trying to make a mule - thinking it looked good (apparently I need glasses ...) I merged and saved it. The next time I fired up iclone 4pro - I took a better look at my "mule" and he had both his ears on the same side of his head - a rather odd looking creature :w00t:. I noticed I could not takes the ears off to reset them - they don't show as separate items anymore, but as a part of the whole "mule". How can I disassemble my mule to start again? :D

How to texture a terrain from 3DXchange?

Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to texture a terrain that I've made in Sketchup. Do I do it in iClone in a seperate paint program or something? I'm not sure what the map would look like for that. Can I do it within 3D exchange? I have Vue Pioneer but I don't think I can export anything with that so I don't know how to color my terrain except for the basic colors..

Any ideas? Thanks.

EDIT: another question comes to mind.

Do the models have to have a certain polycount or is that up to the computer? (i.e. iClone doesn't care as long as your PC can handle it) I ask this because sometimes I can see "jaggies" or sharp edges... I mean like this... if I bring a character I've created in iClone into 3DX, can I smooth it out so it's not so... sharp? Thanks.

Eyes and window size

I've got two questions.

1. I want to change the eye color using the color adjest sliders. That's all good when I'm changing one of the preset ones, but I have a few custom eyes taht I made that only considst of a single picture on each eye. I can't change the colors. How can I make it so I can do this?

2. Everytime I minimize and maximize the iClone window, it gets too big for my screen. Well it's not everytime, but it's a lot of the time. And even moreso when the timeline's there. I can deal with it but just wondering why sometimes it's too big for my screen.

Well, I guess I've finally run out of excuses not to start and FINISH my first real movie.
I have the script, the characters, the software, so, almost like a mission statement:
