feet sliding

Hi I have noticed that when I use a character at different scale size the feet sliding issue,when the character walks along a path, gets worse.. Is there any way of changing the distance covered by a given walk instruction separately to the time taken. Which is what one can do with a prop following a path by using the position on path tool.
