WOW! I JUST GOT 3D MAX 2009 AND NOW IM READY TO ROCK! LOL! THANKS TO ALL THAT HELP ME WITH MY QUESTIONS THEY REALLY HELPED!:D

thanks! I know this is going to sound crazy but it looks like im going to be able to afford to buy 3d studio max v9 for about $1500 used on ebay, lol cool right! But now im finding out theres a version 9 and a version 2009, lol. So my question is does anybody know if version 9 compatible with windows 7, thanks!

Well I have used 3DS Max 2009 and 2010 under Windows 7 (32bit) and haven't encountered any problems as yet. I haven't tried 2008 so can't comment on that version.

well I done some recearch and it seems as if there are no compatible versions of 3d max for windows 7 other then the 2010 version that just came out. Sombody please help me with my compadtibility problem. Do I need windows vista or xp im order to get 3d max to work! what do i need in order to get started?

I'm afraid Reallusion doesn't supply you with 3DS Max. :w00t:

3DS Max is an expensive software program that is normally used by developers and professionals in the 3D modelling field. The versions currently compatible with iClone are R8, R9, 2008 and 2009. 3DS Max 2010 isn't currently supported and there is no plugin available for that version.

If you are unaware of the price of 3DS Max then you may want to sit down before visiting their website which is HERE.

so just to be clear, do i need to buy a version of 3d studio max, or does reallusion provide that for you. I have windows 7 32 bit system. is 3dstudio mac 2009 compitable with windows 7? cause 3d studio max has a 2010 vesion that I know is compatable with windows 7 but with the plug-ins work? cause i dont see any plug-ins for 3dstudio max 2010. If I have windows 7 what version of studio max should I try to get, that will also work with the plug-ins. I hope all this made since, lol thanks!

Yes the 3DS Max plugin is compatible with Windows 7. :)

yes you can use max 32 bit under 64 bit version. If you use vista you need the upgrate to work under vista.

I'm trying to sort this out... Before I spent any money I want to make sure of a few things...

If I understand correctly, the 3DS max plug-in is 32-bit and requires a 32-bit 3DS Max installation. It will work for 3DS Max R8, R9, 2008, and 2009. Would it work for 3DS Max 2010?

I believe it is possible to install 3DS Max 32-bit under a 64-bit OS (I have Vista 64-bit). Does anybody know if this is correct?

Finally, is there a change of a 64-bit of the plug-in being developed? It's kind of a waste to run a 32-bit version of an app if a 64-bit version is available and you have a 64-bit OS.

Hi, Here's where you put it.

Make sure you have the iClone .dle in the Max 'plug-ins' folder and you have placed the iMagick.dll inside the 3DSMax7(6)(8) folder.

You are correct, the R9 folder is for 3DS Max 9 (not 2009).

(May be) stupid question: there 4 foulders after unzipping , which one is for Max9? I suppose it's R9, but am not sure....

I've checked I've put the files in the correct places as you suggested. I have. The guide says there are four files in the RLMaxExp folder, I appear to have aquired an extra file, "AutoThumbs.vns". Have no idea if this is relevant. The file it can't find is "iClone3MaxExp.dle" but the file is there, in the Plugins folder, exactly where it should be. :ermm:

Have you correctly placed the plugin files in the correct locations. It's very easy to make a mistake with these.

Take a look at the guide below which gives full instructions for using the Plugin. It can be found in the Developer Center once you have logged in.

Are the plug-ins different in the 32bit vs 64bit versions of Max 9? I don't know - but the plug-in works in max 32bit running on XP 64.Joe Piazzo

It would be perfect if the plugin were recompiled for 3dsmax 2009, since current version of the plugin is only for max9, which has incompatibility with Windows Vista.I am unable to use it for that reason, and really would like to plunge into modeling clothing and addons for models. Also please consider making a plugin for Truespace 7.6, and milkshape.
