That would be a "very nice to have".:)Also the positioning features of Moviestorm are fine - selecting a character by simply clicking on it, getting some options for motions like "walk to ...", "point at", "look at", "use prop" etc. make live easier.

Creating/customizing 3D landscape would be wonderful

It would be a great thing if you could customize the 3D scenes (landscapes) or create your own. For instance a walk motion could be modified as to make the character raise a hand while walking, by enabling a 2nd animation layer and orienting the arm properly. the arm would be animated separately in the layer track.2) Now it is impossible to rotate the hip without rotating the whole character. Some Inverse kinematics to the hip would allow hip rotations without dragging the character into an unnatural position. Right now it is VERY difficult to do a "sexy" move...3)A means to "plant" either foot to the ground (lock) is necessary to make a reasonable walk motion without using stock walks.Iclone developers... Reallusion must understand that many of us use other machinima tools such as The Movies. The Movies has a huge list of presets as a video game not originally designed for strict machinima; however, even though it's been out for quite some time, it still has a huge following. I wish the development team would consider iClones as a machinima movie making tool their primary goal.Action Motion Presets that should be standard for a tool designed to make machinima requires preset animations for drama, action, horror, sci-fi, and at least comedy. They should be split into such categories. Not that they are not helpful ... they are full of good intentions ... not that they don't know what they are talking about ... they’re freaking geniuses ...

What I am complaining about is the delay. I started a ticket the 4/22/2008 2:53:39 PM and got the first reply the 4/27/2008 10:39:21 PM ... ever since it's one reply per day ... and since this is a trial error issue it's probably gonna take weeks ... It's horrible.

All I am asking is a dedicated support team that can work 24h/7 in providing support from a live chat system or a faster support with tickets (like a reply in an hour or so). That would be 100% more effective then 5 days before the first reply then 1 message per day for 30 days ... It's a freaking none sense ... There’s plenty of good chat support scripts out there ... I am sure resources full like they are they can find something they can use and modify ...

It's obviously Reallusion's week point and I truly hope they will do everything they can to offer better help to the people that actually make them live. It's not a way to treat clients...
Like I said, I don't wana start a flaming post so if you’re having a bad experience as well, keep that to your self. But if you have an idea that could help them on this weakness, feel free to share it.
More minor features

If iClone would also save Render/Export Settings like dimensions, quality, framerate, and format. But, stingy fellow that I am, I figured that maybe trying the free trial version first, would be the better choice rather than going nuts over great advertizing copy and screen layout.
Okay, you folks at Reallusion have an incredible product but it is like a well-muscled weight lifter with a weak back. It has the power and the output, but who can use it?

I was tipped off on the Machinima.com forum by an iClone user who said that it has a steep learning curve and is not as easy to use as people may think. Okay, I have learned a lot of the top products available in graphics arts and animation with steep learning curves, so what could be so tough about this one?

So, I watch the Tutorial videos on YouTube and from a few other locations as well as the so-called "tutorials" that are offered on the Reallusion site. Nope, you have a weak back. Your tutorials are spotty, showcasing some things but leaving out the basics. You aren't taking care of the newbies who want to use the product and us middle-aged newbies don't get any breaks either

Sorry to be a whiner, but I'd like to learn the program without all of the fumbling around that is necessary to do so. I have a lot of other projects that I am presently working on that take presidence over stumbling around trying to figure out this animation engine. Your tutorials are not designed to teach a beginner, let alone someone who knows a bit about the program. You really need to start from the ground up on your tutorial lessons and try to actually teach how to use iClone rather than just showcasing what it can do in the so-called "tutorials. Oh yeah, I went to the ICLONE TUTORIALS site but was warned off with the sign that it wasn't for beginners and you have to already know how to use iClone before you can benefit from what they offer.

So, I go back to square one and I downloaded the Manual. I will try learning it in two dimensions. But if I don't learn it from there in the 15 days of the free trial offer, then I guess I won't buy the product. And oh yeah, I downloaded the trial extras bundle but the program still shoots a nag screen into my face to download the bundle everytime I click an asset to try out.
Anyway, I have some projects that I think iClone can accomplish, but I won't be buying it for now it looks like. Maybe next version.

yes no or cancel warnings

i never thought i would be asking for more of them, but after awhile you get used to them and they have there purposes.

So i'm asking for one on the overwrite button.

thanks

steve

Things To Be Fixed

Just finished up a big 20 minute iClone project and here are the things that would make iClone a lot better better workflow wise and one bug.

First, a little about my workflow to provide some context. During the course of my filming, many shots evolve from one another. For example, I might have an animated camera timeline establish the first shot and then move from the timeline to a new still camera or locked-to-character camera. This is primarily because the avatars are blocked properly for the next shot; thus avoiding having to position the avatars and any props from scratch again. It also helps me to get in the flow of filming and develop a rhythm/momentum.

Now some issues/feedback!

Lock-to-character bug.
Add 2 characters to a project. Create an animated camera time line. Change camera to lock-to-character. Try and get a new camera angle on the character.

Animated camera default
I often make still camera shots from animated camera shots however when you save the project, it will always open it as an animated camera and you loose your shot. The project should save the still shot and iClone should not assume that just because there is animated camera timeline info still present that that is what I want. I have lost so many shots to this and you never seem to be able to recreate it like the original one you lost. (And if you go to remove the animated camera keyframes, you loose your shot as well - no winning here)

Default animated camera start key frame
If there is no animated camera keyframe info, please use the existing camera position and don't default back to the home position - it makes me have to start all over again. The work around is of course is to wait to frame your shot until after switching to animated camera but sometimes you loose the perfect shot because of this.

Project working directory
20 minutes of production with each scene saved as a project resulted in huge disk drive requirements for my local Shared folders where Reallusion keeps its files. Please let us change to another directory for this within the application preference somehow. I kept having to move these files to a network directory. The external drive not only kept my local hard drive from filling up but enabled me to render scenes on another machine while still working on my main machine.

That's it for now! I love iClone!

Intergrated Motion Editor! For Avatar on Avatar action!

It always perplexed me why the motion editor was an external program, and you had to export animations into the actual iclone system. This is probably because it'd be somewhat difficult to intergrate pose and motion tweening into the actual animation itself. I think it would be a good idea to keep the ability to import motions or poses, but the motion editor should be viewable in real time with your avatar. This is comparable to say 3D prop animations where you could complete the animation sequence in the main timeline, only you should be able to create tweens and rotate joints as you can in the current editor.
Currently it is very difficult to make two avatars interact (fights, high five, ect.) doing this will allow you to adjust the position of your actor in the actual scene. If that were an option, avatars could interact with the 3D scene and other avatars much easier.

Biped character, Quadruped character...

In a topic of the forum, someone requested for Four legged animals, I go one step further, it would be really nice to have the support of quadrupeds as whole characters by using their own RL Bone ... Do you see this what I mean? I would like to have this function in Reallusion iClone, it would be even more innovative! Thus each one of us would be able to create four legs animals like dogs, cats ... etc. and assign them to some custom motions

I love Horse liveprops, but we really need more four legs animals...

The Dorcas Gazelle (Gazella dorcas) is not the smallest of the gazelles nor the most common, but it is small and it is common. » Gazelle is 21 inches. By having the pseudocolors widely spaced, you ensure unambiguous identification.

In other words, the inklines for the different objects would not be concatenated with they are vectorized.

You would only want a maximum of four tonal levels in your render. For pants, in grey, this would correspond to: black, charcoal grey, dove grey, white. The other objects would be shaded in the corresponding colorized tones.

OK, I know you've already busy with your current assignments, :w00t: but thanks for listening!

Finer placement of props primitives

I think that one of the great features of iClone is its facility for building props out of combined primitives.

(The idea is not unique, but I wonder whether its ease of use and large library of shapes is unique?)

I recently tried SketchUp, which is famous for its ease of use, and found it quite tricky in comparison to iClone.

The biggest drawback that I see with props is that we need a ten-fold increase of spatial accuracy in arranging the props relative to each other.

Maybe we could have secondary numerical fields beside the current X, Y, and Z fields, separated by a decimal point?

Meanwhile, you just have to start bragging more about prop construction! :P

BVH converter that works

I can't use the BVH converter and the BVH converter was one of the reasons I bough Iclone Studio.
for example BVH's with 10 sections in the backbone we should be able to just link those sections together to make it more like the Iclone skeleton so it would work correctly.

also 3d exchange should offer poly reduction of some sort :D
other than that I love Iclone and cant wait for 3 to come out :)

Iclone 3 ????

Hello!
When that will be launched the next released of iclone? I am afraid I don't have a steady enough hand on the mouse!

I hope that makes sense; I've only had 3 hours sleep because of your addictive programme and my desire to "just finish this scene!"

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

SMALL TWEEKS

Layers and Map Channels for face image editor.

Smooth in and smooth out for the camera motion along a spline.

Drag and Drop into folders and into scenes from the templet /custom panel.

An Option to make selected object visible/ invisible instead of having to completly remove the object from the scene.

Ability to record and save multiple motion tracks for the same merged prop for later callback applications, and the ability to manipulate individual objects within a merged prop.

An auto switch from Pixel Shader renderer to Quick Shader renderer when moving, scaling/ zooming, and rotating in the scene window to optimize performance, like in Sketch Up.

Auto-scroll for moving, scaling/ zooming, and rotating with 2x 4x 8x 16x accelleration depending on how far away from the center of the scene window you drag the mouse, for Wacom Penabled Tablets.
Motion editor upgrade in V3?

i can think of a few things i would like to see...

optional bone lock ( locking the feet at times would help so much when moving the body in xyz )

timeline the individual body parts ( overlaping and/or offsetting the motions would be easier )

the blending of a pose to pose (the blue line between) an on/off option and/or strength value

onion skinning option would help see the last pose and path of the bones

and do i dare say it

an optional advance graph curves, with bias handles to help with easing in and outs

thanks for your time

Steve

iClone 3 hardware compatibility

I have some suggestion. This would enable us to update our hardware and graphics card should this be necessary.

Motion Editor like in DAZ 3D

There is but on thing stopping me from making cool movies with this product. That is the trial and error approach to motion editing.

I sunk over $1,000 into iClone and content for it before I saw DAZ 3D so . . . . I’m committed to this application. DAZ 3D’s motion editor allows you to see your doll move within the scene as you make adjustments. That is the only thing iClone is lacking. Give me that and I’ll be back to happy about spending all this money on my hobby.

As is it’s almost impossible to have a character walk across a room. iClone’s motion editor is fine for standing stationary or dance movements in wide open spaces, but it’s unrealistic to think you could have a character perform the simple task of walking to a desk, sitting down and making a phone call using what comes with iClone.

The BVH motion import thing is a nice concept I suppose but 99% of the BVH motions out there don’t survive the conversion. Besides, even on the rare occasion that a motion imports without distorting the character, you’re right back to the impossible task of fine tuning using iClone’s motion editor.

I LOVE everything else about iClone. Seriously, rendering, scene building, characters, clone cloth all that stuff, very cool stuff! Unfortunately, motion is kind of important in a movie.

A french version of iclone

It is not a tool but it is my best dream...iclone in other languages...I hope see it in the next release...iclone 3.0 why not?

Add more than one CloneCloth

Is it possible to add to the same character more than one clone cloth...it will be very interested in future version of iclone to have the possibility to superpose character CloneCloth!!!

CloneCloth feature

After iClone, I am also an avid user of POSER/DAZ STUDIO for management characters in 3D
As regards clothing of the characters, I use Virtual Fashion,
http://www.virtual-fashion.com/html/en/index.php

Virtual Fashion offers intuitive 3D tools, world class fabric simulation, industry leading graphical detail and simulation in a single platform that saves time, resources and effort.

Maybe in future versions of iClone, CloneCloth, could be improved with such tools

Edit facial texture with an external editor

Editing the facial (face and profile) texture with an external editor (Photoshop for example) like it is done for props textures, skin body textures and so one...

Standard motions

Hi. In future versions of I-Clone, would it be possible to introduce a standard turning motion, or even set up a seperate motion pack of turning through 90 and 180 degrees while walking. I have played with the positioning and direction tools and I have cracked it, but it took ages because, if they are not lined up dead right, the character either walks on the spot or drifts. I think I only got it right by a fluke in the end as I have not been able to replicate it! It would be helpful if this was an addition to the standard walking motions.

Alternately, would it be possible to add a tutorial showing how to do it step-by-step, making it look realistic - for example, setone up like the particle FX tutorial which is excellent and very helpful. I have spells zinging all over the place.

As an addition, I also find that sometimes when I move from one pose to another, there is an element of "slideing" which seems a bit unrealistic. Is there any way to remove this? I have a feeling it is more to do with the timeing between motions, so roughly, what is the expected time frame to switch poses?

Thanks for any advice.

Merging props

Clone 2 allows users to import props in the working props panel and to merge them into a new prop but whithout selectivity...I hope that Reallusion will permit us to select the props we want to merge in the next version...
