Tried yesterday the iClone 8 volumetric light and DOF on an ultra widescreen format. Though I'm still reluctant to use RL's DOF due to its (lack of) quality, definitely there's a big improvement compared with the one in IC7. Volumetric light is nice, I still have to learn how to use it. The most interesting here is the ultra widescreen format, I don't feel very confortable with it yet, but is looking interesting in using it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjCiSPgFm9Y

Billboards on the rescue Today at work I was thinking how can I populate the set with other avatars - IC8 is doing far better than IC7 in resources management, but anyway... So it came in my mind something I never tried so far: billboards. So here it is. I was surprised by the result, and I'm assuming after a bit of polishing will look even better. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOsRKGuqAUg

Unbelievable ultra-realism? A thread title like that is an invitation for honest feedback.
She looks like she was created in a laboratory, with her extra wide man-shoulders and skinny waist. Women do not look like this!
Render quality, okay... but very orange skin. And under chin on left side there's a glow which shouldn't be there. Hair looks like a wig, not her hair. On the plus side, her eyes and face look pretty good, some actual life there, some hope.
I'll rate it 5 stars regardless, if someone pays me per star, in DA points. :-)

I added @Data Juggler's "Newton's Cradle" and @BiggsTrek's confetti - but, unfortunately, I had to remove the confetti, even they were looking nice, because I figured out I will run in a difficult task: some confetti should land and stick on characters' hair and clothes. So I will use instead his party baloons
P.S I found a bug in IC8: the "remove object animation" does not applies correctly in keeping light's volumetric intensity, it resets it to original value 2.0. I had to copy/paste desired keyframe. I will double-check and if confirmed I will open an issue to RL's FeedbackTracker. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96do4Tz8PpM

Well, you're absolutely right, not that it matters. Your critique was formulated to help one of the forum's most arrogant members, but as you can see all he wants is gushing praise. So he will always have an exaggerated estimate of his accomplishements.

There's an issue in the Suntan skin effect (happens in both CC3 and CC4) - it looks like it applies a different roughness to the head texture compare to body's, see the slight "shining" above clavicle: P.S I think I could add a small mole on her right, above the lip, for more dramatic effect.

IC8 mirrors and a mirrored motion. In this particular setup, the ultra widescreen format suited very well. In my opinion, the devs at RL did a very good job in improving the overall lighting and rendering quality - to my standards, this video is a very good native rendering; keep in mind, me I'm not using not even LUT or post processing filters/enhancements, everything is done by RL's lights and textures. Enjoy!

Awesome The only thing missing is a soundtrack. I have added that for you. Just start both clips at the same time

You gave me an idea, so below's a small (unlisted) update.
I wanted to use your piano, but it was too large for the room so I bought a short piano from CGTrader - I wrote the guy a PM if he can provide me an opacity mask to hide the chair, it's not a sub-prop so I cannot arrange it. But from your piano I took the music sheet, lol. I'm thinking to use for your soundtrack my favorite Mixamo character (I know you love it too ) because he's prone to create mess around - I think I will have to find in my collection som pipes, water pipes

P.S And your teddy is, as always, amazing

Oh no! You should not buy a piano. You could have merged upright piano with separate chair from my House Interior project that you have
And in default iClone content 3D Blocks > Pipes there are some pipes and pipe connectors you could use. Be waiting for the clip.

The guy was very kind, he sent me by the morning a modified version having the chair as a sub-prop, so I used it I forgot about the built-in pipes, thanks for reminding me, I already combined them in the clip, looks nice.

livecleo (7/13/2022) Could you plz tell me how you made the bobs jiggle? I love them Select the character, then in the Modify panel scroll to bottom, there's a Spring section. In Select Spring there are three (for CC3+) or two (for CC3). For each spring turn Activate to ON and adjust its three parameters to get desired effect. P.S If you're using IC7 and CC3+ character, I recommend to tap the "Open" button in the Spring section to load one of two pre-defined spring profiles (.spx), CC3+_Breast_Spring_Normal or CC3+_Breast_Spring_Heavier.
