on my little 24" 2K monitor it looks perfect. Not too dark and not too bright. waiting for the continuation with impatience.

Looks fine to me too. Making it lighter would spoil the atmosphere and light balance. Specifically when he walks away from the spotlight at the door. The difference has to be distinct as it is. On contrary, I would try to darken vegetation (specially planted bushes). I know, it's hard to get the *right* balance in iClone though. One way to try is to render a frame in Iray and then attempt to mimic (as close as possible) that in real-time.

Thank you, thank you, thank you
What about this? I tried to accomodate @4u2ges and @Charly's remarks. I had exactly the same feeling like @4u2ges about those bushes being too bright, on the other hand the first "prototypes" I made looked more night-like accurate, but were too dark on displays on normal light so I had to increase the brightness as @Charly said. Now I tried to get a better balance and to me looks quite OK - usually, the darkest screens are Apple ones, now I checked only on my iPhone and iPad, but I will see also at work on two different MacPros.

That is a lot better. Very little difference and I could only visually distinguish it by opening both versions in 2 different tabs and switch back and forth. But bushes are lot less annoyingly bright, specially when he walks toward the back it's a lot more pleasing. Keep up with the story

One more. It is unfortunate what we cannot tweak vegetation texture in iClone. Everything is way too vivid. We can however in Iray MI scene cache just in case anyone renders Iray.
Compare with the same lights.

It has been mentioned on the forum several times, but it never made it into a feature request.
I think RL would have to use the newer, updated, version of SpeedTrees, similar to the plugins for game engines, which are $19/month.

Thank you, @rosuckmedia, glad you like it
I decided (lol) this will be the final look, I think it's the best compromise I could get between a "night look" and display's brightness in common daylight. I tried including some "bush dithering", meaning planting darker bushes among lighter ones, but did not look well. About vividness @4u2ges mentioned, well, there's also a "psychological" reason for which I will keep it like this: less saturated combined with less contrasted image creates a tense, dark atmosphere, you know, close to sinister, lol; on the opposite, saturated and contrasted image creates a vivid feeling - and this clip will be anything but dark and sad

@4u2ges There was/is a detail which I wasn't able to fix it: at 1:07+, there are 3 small "holes" in guy's T-shirt back - believe it or not, none of Hide Inner Mesh, Transfer Skin Weights/Conform and Hide Body Mesh fixed it. The same with the shoes, when he "tiptoe" to look in the mailbox, its toes pokes out a bit. It's not first time when I encountered this problem, it's not IC7.9 specific, I think even in 7.6 I saw it.
Apart from this, it seems that Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V keyframe in an object's animation is not working, even if Copy and Paste in the right-click menu are enabled - for clock's pendulum I had to manual set all keyframes.
|
By 4u2ges - 3 Years Ago
|
No, no, no.. that is not possible. Here's how to fix those stubborn pocks. Select a single frame at the timeline where pock has occurred in collect clip, save the pose. In CC apply that pose. And try to figure it out. Should not be that hard. Also subdivide character, but tessellate the shirt. Subdivision shrinks a bit, tessellation expands. Same for the shoes. But shoes the worst. Worst case scenario, convert both to Accessory and weight again. That fixes things sometimes. Also mesh hide is not possible not to work.
Copy/paste works fine for me though. Are you trying to paste on empty area without extending a clip first?
|
By Amper Sand - 3 Years Ago
|
I've tried all these things already I think it's something related with the character itself (as I said, it happened also one or two times last year, IC7.6 or 7.7). Though now I didn't tried to convert to accessory and back, I thought didn't worth the waste of time for three dots And for copy paste, of course the clip was extended. When I will have some time, I will make a demo video for each issue and I will post it in the troubleshooting forum.

|
By 4u2ges - 3 Years Ago

I might know what happened to the shirt. You probably used Cloth Layer Setting tool. This thing became buggy at some point. I do not use it anymore. There is also a conflict between Auto-hide and Manually hiding in CC. Just an example after running collision a few times:
Go to Conform and click Reset to Default at the bottom. Go to Cloth Layer Settings and click Reset Content Settings.
That would leave only what you have manually got hidden. Now whatever you manually hide would be in effect.
About the clock. Did you try to drag and drop with Ctrl and then did you press Play. Sometimes after pasting you have to press play for the key to appear. Happened to me a few times. You also may want to Sample the clip - (per frame) and then Flatten it to kill ghost keys.

Hmm, it's like a curse lol.
I am working with the project and encountered the same problem with animation track. Yet worse, I cannot move any bones sometimes at all (it has a complex hierarchy). What I found though, it was attached to something else. As soon as I detached, deleted animation track and started over, the ability to move bones and copy keys was restored. Now, this is a bug.

Don't know why, one of my teammates tried it at work and had no problems. Anyway, here's the Vimeo link: https://vimeo.com/559672098 I'm still surprised about the difference in the video quality between YT and Vimeo - after I uploaded it now, I checked the 2K/4K, I cannot say I see a difference between the original and these, especially the colors - at one time I suspected YT is using 4:4:0 colorspace while Vimeo 4:4:2, but I understood it's not the case.
P.S @4u2ges, it's just the beginning of the end, lol

Don't get me wrong here. I am magnetized by the girl. But that does not stop me from seeing other "things" Now I am sure who the guy is - a Tarzan... or Bruce Lee. The way his hand goes trough the table at the end makes me think he is the latter.

I thought that it's so blatantly obvious that nobody would think I didn't observe it Seriously, I was more concerned about curtains - I had to add some rigid dummies there to prevent collision with the windows' frames, and they had different heights due to physics animation. And about the treadmill stopped rolling Regarding the hand-through-table magic, I didn't want to spend time there because I don't know yet how the motion will continue.

Better now? https://vimeo.com/559672098 You can skip to 2:55, from there is reworked, though the hand scene it could be possible to scrap it entirely. Thank you For me, the most difficult animation task to achieve in all my clips so far was moving in confined spaces, where the smallest gestures (or lack of) are immediately caught and analyzed by the eye. I still don't feel confortable when I have to do this

I spent almost two days for 15 seconds of video Nothing seemed to work - motions, camera angles, lights, nothing. Finally I did it somehow, though one particular sequence either defies laws of physics or you should be a very skilled waiter to achieve such feat https://vimeo.com/559672098
|
By TimothyMasters - 3 Years Ago
|
Yeah, I sure know about the two-days-15-seconds phenomenon. After having done a handful of iClone videos, I did the math and figured out that it takes me about 12 hours of work per minute of video.

I just made a small lights adjustment in the "lights off" scene, because I added several more seconds in the same atmosphere - this one looks pretty cool to me, the combination of lights, shadows and colors. About the cat and walk: I wanted to give her few more seconds - I could not resist the "cat walk" vs "catwalk", lol - but, unfortunately, her walk motion it's very mechanical, only legs are moving, has nothing of catwalk in it, so I decided to let it only as a glimpse, who will observe will laugh, who don't - don't https://vimeo.com/559672098

Suppose 9th light is out for now No, it was and it's still there, was always there, driving me crazy - look at the girl's hair, 2:45, 3:08, and 3:53... As workaround I modified hair's physics to don't be flailing so much and in some sequences I adjusted the lights range and multiplier to "cover" the flickering. Even worse was for some trees...
P.S @toystorylab - you know what I don't like? Seriously - the "Dynasty" sequence. It fits into the song, but somehow it's a dead scene. I cannot say I hate it, but definitely it's the one I like the least.
