Hi,

Can characters or scenery and props be imported from Maya into iclone and if so, how?

Thanks.

Hi
If you are a CCD member I know that they did have a Maya plugin for exporting not quite sure for which version though.
This would only do the scenes and props. The Characters would not work as the bone structure would be different from iClone so therefore the Character would only be a static prop.
Hope that helps.

I know you can import a character from Max and then rig the bones to iClone, so I imagine you could do a round about way of importing a character from Maya to Max and then into iClone, but I was hoping for a more direct route.

Thank you.

hi,

Characters can´t be imported .. they need special work (Bones) and this must be done in 3ds max .. you will find these information in the CCD-Center.

Props and Scenery are simple to import -

a) use 3dXchange to import .obj files (export from maja obj & mtl)

b) become CCD premium Member and download the Maja -> VNS exporter (BETA)

Btw.:

Character are limited to Type G1

to create G2 Characters you have to become a Certified Artist for G2 Texture

thats how i understood it

greetings
