Hi everybody,

I want to design clothes for Moe and others in the package G2 Natural Human Base. But there are no clothes layers. Only Skin layers and realistic textures. How can I get clothes layers like Jack and Jane have?

Of course I can use the clothes layers from Jack for Moe, but then my design for Moe gets disturbed. It won't work that way.

Thanks in advance!!

John

Hi John,

The only way to edit the textures directly of the Natual Human Base characters is to edit the skin textures themselves.

Go to Avatar - Skin - Modify and then click the Diffuse Launch button to open the textures in your image editor.

You also have the option of mixing and matching uppers and lowers etc from Jack and Jane and they will resize fairly well to the new character although as you say problems do arise with the larger Moe and May figures.

Take a look at this other topic that covered this subject. There is also a link to some tutorials here as well.

Hello Peter,

Thank you for your advice. I've tried some things last week. But whatever I do, Moe looks like if his body has been painted. Everything I do with his skinlayer, like for instance an image of a suit, the suit looks like if it is painted. Moe don't look like real with a suit.

Any suggestions? I begin to believe that I have wasted $ 100 wit this package (G2 Natural Human Base). But the package would be greater if there were layers for clothes (like Jack and Jane). But I need the bodies in this package. Otherwise I only can use Jack and Jane and that's not enough for my project.

Thanks in advance!

John

Hi John,

Creating realistic looking textures is a skill that does take a little while to get good at. It is best to try and create clothing textures that match the type of figure mesh (shape) you are working on.

For example when editing skin textures from the Natural Human Base Pack you really need to work on figure hugging textures like t-shirts, vests etc. Trying to create a suit from a skin texture will never look good because you need raised collars and sleeves etc and you don't have that with a naked skin mesh.

It is also important to add shading to give the impression of depth, rather than the flat painted look. I would advise searching the net for some basic texture tutorials for your chosen image editor. With a liitle practice your textures will get better. Also try looking at some of the textures that come with iClone to get an example of how they are done.

Good luck.

Pete
