I think you can fix this with the model tab, set normals to calculate and apply . Also try the material option button in this same panel, to assign the right material http://docs.unity3d.com/uploads/Main/Import_41.png

I'm having difficulty getting a model to render properly in Unity when I export via 3DXchange. Any one with ides on how to fix this? Here is the Unity screenshot along side the 3DXchange screenshot: I'm sure I'm missing something here but can not seem to figure out what it is. Thank you for any and all help

I did manage to figure it out. In the 'fbm' file for the avatar select the texture the check the box Alpha Is Transparency. then set the material shader to legacy/transparent/cutout/diffuse. fixed the issue for me

Hey maybe you all have some experience with this but my animations go over to unity just fine except I want to make a animation of a man falling over dead. But no matter what i try the animation doesn't export correctly over to unity. I'm using unity4

From this little information I can not guess what your problem exactly is.

Normal animations go across successfully but when i try sending a animation where the person falls over the person either falls on his side rather than his face or doesn't fall at all. The animation i get in the 3dexhange is not what comes out on the unity end. If you try animate a person falling over and put it in unity 4 you would see it doesn't like it.Maybe I should update my ver of unity

I gave legacy mode a go but It seemed to just remove the animation data not sure how it works, And mechanim again not sure how to make that function i didn't see a mechanim button anywhere.
