I am doing my mocap recording in iPiSoft which has an export option for BVH for Iclone. However none of the 3Dxchange presets apply to this. The custom mapping is giving unpredictable results.

Would love to see this preset in 3Dxcahnge.

So this thread answers my question about why I am having trouble converting a daz four legged figure to iclone through 3dx! I cannot be done without a preset from Sen (sent you a PM buddy) or an update from RL to introduce the function.

I think this really needs to be given high priority as at the moment we can only introduce two legged creatures into iclone from the outside sources, which is IMHO a limitation of creation.

Ive been going round in circles with Z brush and ending up at Daz , but Im nowhere near getting Z brush models to go to 3D Exchange, theres a big gap in between em. Ive looked all over and noones saying anything ,but I know there must be alotta people doing the same thing .Sooner or later somebody will do something I guess.

Hi Nikrogers,

ZBrush works great with 3DX, f.e export/import mesh function / morphs {layers in ZBrush} but all obj based cause ZBrush is a modeling/sculpting tool (uses manequins or zsphere's for posing, no rigs or fbx export).
To use your sculpts to in an animation (Iclone) you need to build a rig (skeleton) and skin it (attach mesh to rig) and set weightmapping and a FBX capeble program like fe 3DSmax maya, C4D carrara ,Lightwave a.s.o.

So.... export ZBrush obj
Import obj f.e in one of the above programs
Rig Skin and weightpaint/map
Export as FBX
Import 3DX and map the bones
send to iCone

So not really a gap but a missing stepWink

Happy holidays

Bruce, I just purchased CTA 2 Animation Pipeline and part of download was a zipped file pipe line templates which includes flash movie, .ods file etc ... Can that be used in the same way you are describing in this blog??

If not where can I get some guidance on how to use it. Thanks.

I'd really like to see official support for using Mixamo within the iClone pipeline as well, being as fully supported as Daz3D and some of the other 3D engines. You can get Fuse on Steam for a relatively low price, and get 2 free autorigs each week, through Mixamo. This really allows for non 3D modelers to get a wider range of characters for iClone. I've seen some of the imports for Unity and Source Filmmaker, from Mixamo, and it looks really good.

It's ironic that Mixamo can be used with Unreal, Source Filmmaker, Unity, and even Photoshop for that matter (Yes, you have access to the animations from within Photoshop even) but nothing official for iClone. We need to change that Reallusion...

I know its a dead program but Quidam bone template would be great if its not too much hassel for a small audiance.

yeah, that's great if you have the right bone structure to do that. But I find that the DAZ 3 Studio characters don't match any of your "instant" mappings.  I've tried even importing them into Motion Builder but there are weird "twist" and "rotate" bones in place of the standard Thigh, etc. What do I look for in DAZ Market to make sure it goes through the pipeline? or do you have a magic plugin yet?
