I'm also getting the install error, it seems a bit common, and I've tried following many of the suggestions in this thread, but no luck yet.

Re-installed Dirextx11 and the latest driver for my Geforce 8800 GT,
Machine is an i7 with 24GB of ram, Windows 7

But getting; initialization failed, please check minimum requirements.... etc

Could use any suggestions

Unfortunately your graphics card does not meet the minimum requirements. Please see the link below to find the requirements. Unless you can upgrade you won't be able to run iClone 6 I'm afraid.

Thanks Peter, I guess I didn't realize my Geforce 8800 wasn't higher spec than the required 400 or 600 series. I do have a 500 series, curious if that puts it between the min and recommended ranges?

Would IC6 work with a EVGA Geforce GFX 560 ?

Sorry to bump myself, but I feel like this has gotten buried in the thread,

Would iClone6 run on a EVGA Geforce GFX 560?

if you can give me a specific model, i can compare it to my card which is a gtx 460 - min spec but running great. ( of course I'm overclocking it too lol )

I checked out the GTX 560 (couldn't find a GFX 560) and the architecture is very similar to a GTX 460 except that it has higher clock rates. Sort of that it is already pre-overclocked.

Tom's Hardware review: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-560-amp-edition-gtx-560-directcu-ii-top,2944.html.

So you should be fine. The only thing is the 1 GB memory, which is on the low side.

It means that for very large scenes performance may suffer.

except the 530 - anything with the x30 is not so good for iclone. but 550, 550ti, 560, 580 590 is fine. The higher the 2nd number , the better.

I can confirm that.

My experience so far is limited, but exceeding your graphics card's RAM is going to kill your performance.

I rendered a 3GB project on a 1GB card, and experienced rendering rates as slow as 27 seconds per frame (that's about 1 hour for 4 seconds of video).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=h9CJYCWm05s

However, when I don't exceed by GPU's memory it's been working pretty well.  But we've only had it a few days, so this is all very preliminary.

I'd like to recommend GPU-Z by TechPowerUp.  It is a free utility I've been using recently to monitor GPU load.

iClone 7... Character Creator... Substance Designer/Painter... Blender... Audacity...
Desktop (homebuilt) - Windows 10, Ryzen 9 3900x CPU, GTX 1080 GPU (8GB), 32GB RAM, Asus X570 Pro motherboard, 2TB SSD, terabytes of disk space, dual  monitors.
Laptop - Windows 10, MSI GS63VR STEALTH-252, 16GB RAM, GTX 1060 (6GB), 256GB SSD and 1TB HDD

Besides being a user, I have been playing help desk. So here are some more GPU observations.

What has been reported and what I hope RL can address is that the GPU is doing overtime whereas the CPU is taking it easy. If somehow the CPU could take some of the load, it would help stability and responsiveness. As we have found out from reports, the high GPU usage is particularly detrimental for laptops, which often lack adequate cooling. PSD has suggested an external under the laptop cooler in the hope that that will give some relief.

I have a well-cooled desktop and had my card shut down while working on a moderately complex scene, after which my project wouldn't display anymore nor would any other project. Finally iClone crashed and it would not open anymore without crashing. I had to reboot to get it back to work.

Now my system is not top, but otherwise fairly powerful. My card is an NVidia GTX 580, so nothing to sneeze at and in fact more powerful than some cards in the recommended 600 and up series.

In system recommendations, instead of just mentioning the series, it would be better to also include what is the recommended optimum within the series. There have been forum questions about that. For example, a 730 is part of the 700 series so falls within the recommended category, but will be struggling as its benchmark score is about 1/5 of that of the 580.

It's simply a fact of life that system specs for iClone 6 are far more critical and demanding than they were for iClone 5. It is only fair to make users aware of that.

Hi All,
I was planning on buying this "HP" lap top for IC6.
But judging from the comments... I'm not even sure anymore. Any advice/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Below are the specs...

(4th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-4510U processor-
Features a 2.0GHz processor speed with SC Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz.)

(NVIDIA GeForce 840M graphics-
Feature 2048MB DDR3 dedicated video memory and up to 4096MB total available video memory for lush visuals. An HDMI output enables flexible connectivity.)

12GB DDR3L SDRAM

1TB hard drive (5400 rpm)

Can this laptop run IC6?
again, thanks in advance.

I thought until the release of iC6 that my card was ok, but boy was I wrong.

On some of the default projects mainly Sky Tools my system starts to lag I use the

techpowerup app and started monitoring the gpu. My heart nearly stopped as well as my card.

So I like a few others have been researching a new pc. I spoke to one of my sons friends as they are part of the main support for a University in Wales for some advise.

I good link that they gave me was a comparison of ratings for graphics cards.

Here is the link it might help a few of you here to see what they are saying.
