Hi Spider,

There could be many reasons why you are getting the error message depending on what you have done to the model in 3DS Max. If the model is not named correctly, eg Upper, Lower, Shoes etc. If the model has not been rigged and skinned properly with the RL Bones you will have problems also.

The best advice I can give is to read all the developer docs on the subject and watch the excellent video tutorials by Chris Murray which goes through a sample procedure in an easy to follow way. Also make sure you have the correct Max plugin for your version. Using the wrong one can cause problems.

Another thing worth a try is to export to Upper, Lower, Shoes folders and try adding the parts to an existing figure. Sometimes these work when whole characters fail and you can find where the faulty part is.

It is also wise to try exporting one of the template figures without making any changes first to make sure the process is working, then you can move on to creating your own figures.

If you give me a little more info on what you have done in Max I'll try and help more.

Hi, Spider

Please download the white paper of "Creating G2 characters for iClone".
http://developer.reallusion.com/docs_ic.aspx

You should work well if you follow the guideline correctly.
If you still can't work out, please send your max file to http://www.reallusion.com/CustomerSupport/User/QForm.aspx

Thanks
Visconti

Hi Spider,

The creation of new figures for iClone involves important procedures that must be followed. These include rigging the RL Bones into the mesh, skinning the model with the Max Skin modifier, setting bone pivot placement and setting vertex weights correctly.

Have you done all of the above? You will need to follow the Creating Character For iClone documents that Visconti mentioned above carefully to get all this right. It is not simply a case of exporting a Poser model to iClone I'm afraid.

Pete
