| Would it be possible to make it so that when attaching a Character or an Object to another Character or Object, there was a choice to have their "facing" or x,y, orientation remained the same continuously no matter what the angle of the "part" they were attached to.That is, if you flew a 1 string Kite, the kite would always, in theory, keep its angle towards you as it rose so that, when it flew so far up, its angle would no longer be into the wind and it would cease to climb. This is how the system works NOW. Is it possible to have the attached object, in this case the kite, NOT face its "parent" but rather retain its original x,y, orientation and whether left or right, up or down, it retained its original orientation or....... "stayed level". In exactly the same way a Glider would fly on an independent but stable orientation in respect to the airoplane towing it up front. Does this make sense???
Application. Glider being pulled by another aircraft. Tractor beams. Car being towed + Trailers etc. Flock migrating birds. A plough being drawn by horse through a field. Waitress carrying a tray. (Mild advantage.)

| Hi, Neil
Thanks for this inspiring idea. Indeed, we considered this issue when "link-to" was programmed ifor 2.5. But the complete inherit function is not applied to iClone yet. So, if you want to achieve the result as request, it can be done as the following panel in Max, but not in iClone.

Fortunately, users are allowed to set the inherit between objects in the next version. However, the advanced setting won't be open then. You can refer to the image below to know the exact spec in iClone.
I hope this info is helpful.
Thanks Visconti
