| I am trying to make a pumpkin, and I have elongated a sphere to get the right sort of proportions, but is there any way to make "ridges"? Or will I have to be clever with shading to do it? (I am not that clever!) Any thoughts would be appreciated. Also, are these sphere's hollow? If not, is there any way to make them so?

I'll share this one with you. But if you want one that's solid, it's possible, however this is all I have for now.

| That's great - Thanks Cricky! I have made a candle which I can put inside with a small Particle FX flame on it - but have you any ideas how to make it glow? I have tried making a second sphere that sits inside the pumpkin with the glow setting selected, but I am nt very impressed with the result. Does anybody have any better ideas? Thanks again.

Try using the shrink effect, and re-size color and change it's settings for an interior Glow. Just move it into position inside the Pumpkin. For the Candle there is a Torch effect that can be used. It takes some sizing and positioning, but once attached to the candle sub-node (wick) if you happen to have one, it will emit a light that should suffice. Both effects mentioned are default install SFX.

Good to hear...now for Halloween, make your movie and turn off all the lights in the house...put your monitor in a window seen by all visitors and enclose it in a blacked out box and if done right, from the visitors view, it will look like a glowing pumpkin is sitting in your window.
In the same vein of thought, make a good Halloween Trick-or-Treat scene for the little kids or party guests who knock on the door. If you put it in a loop play, then it will be the hit of the neighborhood especially if you could view it on a wide screen from the street, or rear-project it on a white sheet pulled tight across a window or hung between poles in the yard. Wide angle projectors can be rented for just such events that hook to your monitor out or TV. Throw in some background sounds and it can really be something to scare all the spooks away. Your own version of the drive-in (walk-up) theater.
