I seem to have come to grips with creation of the talking choc bar. I am quite comfortable with the results in CT but need to export it to full uncompressed AVI... with transparent background.

I have tried (in Photoshop CS 2) to create a transparent background for my image in jpg (I have discovered that jpg does not support transparency!) and tga. I import this into CT do the animation then export it to Premiere pro 2 (my nle). The problem is that when i put it on to the timeline over a still of the fridge shelf, it is not transparent.

What i want is the talking bar laying on the empty space i have created for it on the fridge shelf and have recorded this on a still.

The exporting goes fine and PP2 accepts the avi. It plays well, just that the background is not transparent.

Give it a try

Hi brido,

Are you certain that you have created a transparent background correctly? You can check this in Crazytalk by choosing Background Mask Settings and changing the background colour. This will ensure the transparency is how you want it.

You can also check out a couple of tutorials which may be of help here:

http://file.reallusion.com/ct-v45tutorials/CT45_Tutorial_6.zip

Also take a look at this short tutorial in Premiere which shows the 'Greenscreen' method of overlaying one video over another.

I hope these suggestions help you out a little. Good luck.

That was so helpful. Problem solved.

I am sorry that I did not do the first step of going through the tutorials first.

I clearly did not understand the background mask function.

again my thanks.

Just to say that I have finished the CT side of the chocolate bar project. I am really pleased with it.

Thank you to the forums replies which have been so helpful.

I am very taken by the programme especially as I have done some stop motion animation in the past and know what it would have taken me to achieve what CT did quite well and very easily.

Like many of you I would like a few more "controls". Like I tried to get "sweat" to act as tears, but I could not find a way of getting them to start at the eyes. The cartoon-like tears did not really suit my aim.

Now to amaze my grandchildren with my new found programme (perhaps they will be able to teach me)!

Give it a try

I purchase the adobe 6.5 off of ebay to do the transparency on video it didn't work. so I down loaded your tutorial with the link you posted and tried the jpg that you had still didn't work. when I right click on video 2 and click on transparency and do all you say it works until I hit ok in the transparency and nothing happens. I did notice the video 1 always dominates. when I right click in video 2 and click the motion tab to see it works in there the two mix. but not in the time line, I have worked on this for about a month and I'm at a dead end. thanks
