It opens, shows the workbench and immediately closes.
The computer is very new, with a dual 1080 gtx.

if it's a new computer you built,  try uninstalling,  cleaning the registry then re-installing.

if it's a factory built computer,  go to msconfig,  and try disabling some of the extra programs you don't need, which are eating up your ram with features you never really use anyways. 

1 of 2 things is happening, bad install,  or a software conflict that is preventing 3DX from starting normally,   also make sure your anti-virus didn't false positive the 3DX software .....several anti virus are flagging 3DX as a virus, and auto cleaning it....that will cause this type of error too.

It´s a new computer from factory. The task manager says that 5.2 GBytes of 32 GBytes are used. Switching off the antivirus didn't help either.

yeah,  what duchess said,  and disabling the anti-virus wont help if it already did something to the files,  best way to check that is look at the av history and see if it did anything.  another one to check is your direct x software -  see if you can find any errors there as well.

at this point,  the idea is  making a list of things that can cause this kind of error and ruling them out one at a time.

Make sure you've updated the drivers for those video cards (even if the factory installed them, there are most likely already newer drivers available).

Make sure you've updated the drivers for those video cards (even if the factory installed them, there are most likely already newer drivers available).

Also make sure they are the NVidia drivers, as sometimes MS installs the Windows version. There is an option in Windows 10 to ensure that Windows Install doesn't touch factory drivers.

Microsoft defender protocol files show no problem.
Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 redistributable 11.0.61030.0 repaired for x64 and x86
dxdiag shows no problem

3dxchange 7.0 updated to 7.01

The workbench still crashes but the conversion from iclone and cc still works.

I ve got the newest drivers from NVidia.
May the drivers for the monitor be an issue?
Or may the audio drivers may be an issue?
