So I followed this video step-by-step and it worked pretty well for a while. You'll see in the first video, even though the legs are kinda wonky at some points, the animation looks pretty good. However, in the 2nd video, when I add the left arm, the upper and lower arm get fractured. There ARE some frames that look like they should but for the most part, the arm is all messed up. I left the other dummy arm as is just to make sure that one still looks right. Does anybody have any ideas about what I'm doing wrong? I'm having to create G2 characters because I need 0, 90 and 180 degree characters.

And here are the parts I'm importing

Greetings Carl,
Based of the animation you are swapping each limb out from within the CTA application.  Which version of CTA are you using?  Pro or Pipeline?
If you are doing G2 Characters, I strongly recommend you save them as .swf files instead of png.
If you are going to continue to swap each sprite out limb for limb, then you have to ensure the pivots are placed in the correct location and that you are resizing your content at the right size. All the limbs have to match up in the right place in every angle in order for the animation to be smooth.

Finally, you mentioned only needing the 0, 90, and 180 angles.   If that is the case, G2 may not be the best option for you, you may want to consider G1 (3 Single Angle) Characters.  You can still make it work with just 3 angles...but you will have to do some additional tweaking.  You still need to have sprites related to your character in those other angles, even if it's just a copy of another sprite.  I have assisted Cartoon Solutions with make his 3 angle character G2 for a client so can assure you it can be done.  If you have the Pipeline version.  You are better off importing all of your content in at once.

Thanks for your reply! I'm just working on drafts right now. I just screen-captured this character and took it apart in Photoshop. For the actual project, the characters will be created in Illustrator. Is that going to make things easier? I'll have to take a look at the G1 solution....I didn't think about that. I'm using the Pro version so will I still be able to do this as you're suggesting, importing SWFs?

Thanks so much!!!

Characters created in Illustrator do not import well in CTA.  I would strongly recommend Adobe Animate instead.  If you are more comfortable working in Illustrator and them importing into Adobe Animate you should not have too much problems, be importing directly from Illustrator will cause problems.  The Pro version of the application does not allow you import a character in all at once, you will need the pipeline version for that feature.  If you plan on doing a like of custom characters I would reach out to Reallusion sales department to get a upgrade to the Pipeline Version.  It will save a ton of time and headaches.  People don't understand that when you are doing a G2 Character, there is literally over 200 sprites that makes up a character.  You have to ask yourself an important question.  Do I really want to add each one of these item in individually.  You may not have a problem with it in the beginning, but over time it can very taxing on you, especially if you discover a mistake in your character and need to start all over again.

This is a test of a G3 character created according to the tutorial on Crazytalk website. Art work was done in illustrator saved out as png files. I followed it to the letter. This is what I got. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

It does not look like you double bind your joints.

This portion of the video explains your problem.

To include a video or image within your post, mouse over the INSERT button right below where you type your message and select what you'd like to include. If you want to upload a video, I think you have to post it to YouTube, you'll be asked for the link when you select the video icon, and the video will be embedded within your message. At least that's the way I do it.

You're so helpful and I know everyone on this forum appreciates your expertise. Pipeline is out of the question so I went another route. I'm going to try to create a G3 character. I've got the walk left and walk right looking good with the default walk side animations. Now I'm trying to figure out how to do the front walk and make it look good. Once I get that, they way my character is set up, the front and back of his clothes look the same so I'll just switch out the back of his head. I'm posting again now to see if anyone has come up with a better front animation. The ones included with CA3 look really wonky. Thanks once again!
