My suggestion to the problem is a new feature. Instead of attaching a prop as a whole to another prop it should also be possible to define the part of a prop by which a prop is attached to another prop. So the walking figure could be attached to the floor by the foot that touches the floor. In the animation timeline you could define the changing feets as attaching part. When designing a walking motion you could already integrate the definition of the attachig part to the motion.
