Wow!!!
4 hours for a 30 minute video!!! You are a "Lamborghini" compared to my "Model T". I'm finishing up an 18 minute video that has taken me over a year to produce. I am seriously impressed.
pete Ha yes I can do pretty large extensive animations in short times, but only because I have practiced a lot.
This took me about 20 min
Imagine your the best painter in the world but you have no idea how to use a paint brush. Master the tools, the art will come naturally. As a computer artist one must only master software interfaces. In simple terms the more programs you play with the faster you will learn how to use programs. The key is learning the tools, not the art.
To train myself I would challenge myself, I would pick one 3d model, it could be anything even a cup. I would then add that cup or model to the project, Then build an entire environment around that cup /model. If it is a cup then I would build a whole dinner around that cup with animated characters and everything but the cup or model is always the focus. Do this enough and you will become a great computer artist. If you take the imagination and creativity out of the art, then its not art its just a job.
I have looked over your work and many others here. I checked out your youtube I like your work its good work, there are a lot of great artists here.
The only thing that will ever hold back ones artists creativity, are the tool to express it.
